You know exactly what climax is coming in Oliver Laxe's rustically beautiful rural parable, but its dreamy, mesmeric power lies in the waiting.
Takes time to ignite but sparks a powerful blaze.

With Fire Will Come, [Oliver] Laxe achieves his most accessible film without renouncing an iota of the artistic ambition that defines his work. [Full Review in Spanish]
Clearly the director was going for something experimental that perhaps becomes more clear with continual viewings. The problem is, I'm not sure that I want to rewatch it.
This is a film of powerful images and unsettling noises. And as such, it is powerful. Undermining that would be as unnecessary as complaining about a lack of plot in a John Wick film. It's not an easy watch, nor a quick one despite a shorter runtime.
Laxe takes us towards a perturbing and urgent journey. [Full Review in Spanish]
